Madhya Pradesh Govt allots Rs 1,547 crore to build 6 medical college
The decision was taken by the state cabinet at its meeting chaired by the CM, and the new medical colleges will come up in Mandla, Singrauli, Sheopur, Rajgarh, Neemuch and Mandsaur.

Bhopal: In a major boost for the medical education sector in Madhya Pradesh, the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government on Tuesday decided to allocate Rs 1,547.45 crore for the construction of six new medical college buildings in the state. The decision was taken by the state cabinet at its meeting chaired by the CM, and the buildings will come up in Mandla, Singrauli, Sheopur, Rajgarh, Neemuch and Mandsaur, a public relation department official said.

The cabinet has given administrative approval of Rs 249.63 crore for Mandla, Rs 258.07 crore for Singrauli, Rs 256.83 crore for Sheopur, Rs 256.55 crore for Rajgarh, Rs 255.78 crore for Neemuch and Rs 270.59 crore for Mandsaur, the official added.
Officers of Tribal Affairs department associated with school education and management, scheduled castes welfare and labour will be trained.
Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi also announced that he will set up a new medical college in Sangrur.
In another news, the Ladakh government has speeded up work to complete pre-fabricated structures of the first medical college in the union territory by setting a target of beginning the first academic session in 2022.
Meanwhile, medical students, doctors’ bodies have been protesting against the delay in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) PG counselling 2021. The NEET PG counselling is the process by which candidates who have qualified the NEET PG 2021 exam will be assigned seats in postgraduate courses in medical colleges. The counselling process was set to begin on October 25, however, it has been put on hold as the Supreme Court is yet to hear the petition challenging EWS, OBC reservation.
