Maharashtra NEET UG Counselling 2025: The Dalit student had complained to the CET Cell about the admission denial and excessive fee demanded by SSPM Medical College.
Following an inquiry by the Admission Regulating Authority (ARA), the State CET Cell has allowed the Dalit student to participate in the Maharashtra NEET UG stray round counselling 2025. The student had complained about the admission denial and the excessive fee demanded by Sindhudurg Shikshan Prasarak Mandal (SSPM) Medical College.
The Dalit student from Gadchiroli district was shortlisted for Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) admission in the third round of NEET UG counselling . The MBBS student alleged that the college demanded fees ranging from Rs 5 to 8 lakh. However, the website showed only Rs 50,000 refundable caution money.
Also, a Pune-based activist Tejas Ahire, who has been helping the candidate, said that CET Cell and the ARA should take disciplinary action against the SSPM Medical College.
He further added that CET Cell should have a help desk at the semi-government institutes to facilitate the admission process.
Committee was formed to probe complaint
Earlier, the directorate of medical education and Maharashtra ARA took steps to investigate complaints regarding the MBBS admission at SSPM Medical College and formed a committee to probe the matter.
Both the candidate and SSPM Medical College authorities were asked to appear before the ARA office on November 10 at 2 PM to present their statements, along with relevant documents.
The candidate further alleged that the SSPM college administration forced him to send an email to the CET Cell declaring that he had no grievances. He claimed that he was summoned to the office and detained until 6 pm, during which he was forced to send the email.
The candidate also stated that, since he was unable to pay the demanded sum of Rs 9.2 lakh, his admission was denied. To date, there’s no official statement from the medical college, and it has refuted all the allegations regarding the incident.
