NEW DELHI: The Bombay High Court has cancelled the CET exam for 11th admission 2021 Maharashtra. The Maharashtra CET exam for First-Year Junior Colleges (FYJC) was scheduled for August 21. The decision to cancel the Maharashtra FYJC CET is taken in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. The HC has said that it is “gross injustice” and it would be a threat to the lives of students.

A division bench of Justices RD Dhanuka and RI Chagla revoked the decision of the state government on Maharashtra CET. A petition was filed by Ananya Patki, a student of Mumbai's IES Orion School.

The bench in its order has said, "If the CET is allowed to be held, then a large number of students would be exposed and would face a threat to life. This would have a cascading effect.”

The HC has directed the Maharashtra government to issue a fresh notification and start the 11th admission 2021 based on the marks obtained in Class 10 and internal assessments. The court has also directed the government to complete the Class 11 admission process within a period of six weeks.

As per the Maharashtra CET notification dated May 28, the CET exam was to be held for Class 10 students. And, based on the Maharashtra FYJC CET, students were to choose their college while taking Maharashtra 11th admission 2021.

Students would be able to choose their preferred college in Class 11 after appearing in the CET. However, students who are unwilling to appear for the Maharashtra CET would get admission on the basis of their aggregate marks in Class 10.

Maharashtra Board has released the Maharashtra SSC result 2021 on July 16 at the official website mahresult.nic.in. This year, overall 99.95 percent of students have passed the Maharashtra SSC exams.
