Two new medical colleges in Maharashtra, listed in the National Medical Commission’s (NMC) MBBS seat matrix for the 2026–27 academic year, are yet to be included in the state’s NEET UG admission process. Two existing institutes are also yet to have their NMC-approved additional seats added to the state seat matrix.
The colleges are awaiting affiliation from the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS), officials from the institutes told Careers360.
The State Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell has clarified that only colleges that have received the government’s Government Resolution (GR) and university affiliation are considered for the admission process.
In an email response dated October 17, the CET Cell said the two new colleges would participate when they obtain the required permissions. The response did not specify whether they would be included in the ongoing admission process or the next academic year.
According to officials from the colleges, MUHS raised certain faculty-related queries after inspecting the institutes. The officials said the colleges were awaiting affiliation from the university.
If the two new colleges obtain the required permissions and are included in the admission process, they could add 150 MBBS seats to Maharashtra’s admission pool . An equal number of seats would come from the two existing institutes. Meanwhile, state-level NEET UG stray vacancy round has begun.

The NMC’s MBBS seat matrix for the 2026–27 academic year, updated as of September 1, 2026, lists the two institutions as new establishments. The seat matrix lists 100 seats for Mauli Medical College Hospital and Research Center and 50 for Ideal Institute of Medical Science. Smt.Kashibai Navale Medical College, Pune and Smt. Sakhubai Narayanrao Katkade Medical College, Kopargaon have been granted additional 50 and 100 seats by NMC, taking their overall intake to 150 each.
The publication of seat matrix followed an email sent on October 17 by Abdur Rehman Khan, president of the Mission Awareness Foundation, to the State CET Cell and the Maharashtra Medical Education and Drugs Department. The email sought clarification on why Ideal Institute of Medical Science, Palghar, and Mauli Medical College, Buldhana, had not participated in CAP 2026 despite reportedly having NMC approval.
In its reply, the State CET Cell said: “Only those colleges who have received Government GR and affiliation from the University are considered.” When asked whether the colleges would participate this year or in the next academic year, the CET Cell said the colleges will participate when they get the required permissions.
