To clear the Maharashtra SSC board examination, students must secure at least 35% marks in each subject. For science, the board follows a combined evaluation system, meaning candidates are not required to pass Science Part 1 and Science Part 2 separately. Instead, the final score is calculated by adding the marks obtained in Science Part 1, Science Part 2, and internal assessment.

In certain cases, students who miss the passing mark by two or three marks may receive grace marks, enabling them to achieve the minimum 35% qualifying requirement.

Maharashtra SSC Science Paper 2 analysis, answer key

Updates on the Maharashtra SSC Class 10 Science Paper 2 exam will be shared shortly.

The Maharashtra board does not release official answer keys for SSC examinations. However, after the paper ends, coaching institutes and subject experts often publish unofficial answer keys and exam analyses, which can help students estimate their likely scores.

Maharashtra SSC Science Paper 2: How to evaluate

Students can evaluate their performance in the Maharashtra SSC Science Paper 2 (Biology) by referring to unofficial answer keys, the board’s marking pattern, and basic self-evaluation methods.

  • Check answers with unofficial keys: After the exam, several education portals release unofficial answer keys for objective questions such as MCQs and one-sentence answers. Students can use these to verify responses to Question 1(A) and 1(B).
  • Follow the first-attempt rule: For MCQs, the board generally evaluates only the first marked answer, so any corrections made later may not be considered during assessment.
  • Understand the marking scheme: Science Paper 1 carries 40 marks for the theory section, and students can estimate their likely score based on the typical evaluation pattern followed by the board.
  • Step-wise marking in numericals: In numerical questions, marks are often awarded for writing the given data and the formula, even if the final calculation is incorrect.
  • Answer structure for descriptive questions: For 2-mark questions, students should write at least two clear points, while 3-mark questions usually require three points or two points along with a suitable diagram.
  • Importance of diagrams and equations: Marks are given only for scientifically accurate and properly labelled diagrams. In chemistry questions, writing a balanced chemical equation along with the explanation is often necessary to secure full marks.
