NEW DELHI:The Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) has launched a programme, called Vidya Daan 2.0, for collecting e-learning resources as institutions turn to online classes amidst the lockdown.

As the nationwide lockdown extended to May 3 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, schools and universities across the country have been forced to shift their classes online.

The ministry in a statement released on Wednesday said that the programme was launched “due to the urgent need to integrate digital education with schooling to augment learning”.

The programme invites individuals and organizations to contribute online resources for both school and higher education.

The content will be used on MHRD’s Diksha platform, launched in 2017, for students across the country to access. Diksha has over 80,000 e-books for Classes 1-12 prepared by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and the National Council for Educational Research and Training (NCERT).

The ministry also said that the programme shall soon be inviting contributions for teacher training material.
