The CET Cell had previously increased the seat acceptance fee for the Centralized Admission Process (CAP) for engineering courses for the academic year 2026-27.
However, after receiving representations from various organisations and directives from the government, the CET Cell has decided not to implement the BTech seat acceptance fee hike.
Therefore, the engineering seat acceptance fee for engineering admissions this year will remain unchanged. The CET Cell had not increased the seat acceptance fee for the past seven to eight years.
Earlier, the CET Cell Commissioner, Dileep Sardesai, noted that the engineering seat acceptance fee hike aims to ensure every student gets a seat and to curb seat blocking.

According to the CET Cell press release, the objective behind the fee revision was to curb the practice of seat blocking and to provide admission opportunities to interested students.
It was observed that in the previous year, students had blocked approximately 35,000 such seats during CAP counselling. Under the new fee revision structure, the fee to be charged would have depended on the stage at which a seat was allotted to the student across the four rounds of the Centralized Admission Process (CAP).
Specifically, the proposed fee structure was: Rs 1,000 for the first seat allotment; Rs 2,000 if a new seat was allotted and accepted through the 'betterment' process for the second time; and Rs 3,000 if a new seat was allotted and accepted through the 'betterment' process for the third time.
However, the MHT CET CAP 2026 engineering seat acceptance fee for students will remain at the existing rate of Rs 1,000 to benefit all students seeking admission to BTech courses in the state.
State Cell will publish the final MHT CET CAP 2026 merit list today on its official websites at cetcell.mahacet.org and fe2026.mahacet.org. MHT CET CAP counselling 2026 round 1 seat allotment list will be published on August 2.
