National Teachers Awards 2021: 44 teachers to receive award on Teacher's Day

President Ram Nath Kovind will confer the National Teachers Award 2021 to 44 teachers this year on Teacher's Day.
NEW DELHI: Union education ministry has released a list of 44 teachers who are selected for the National Teachers Awards 2021 this year. President Ram Nath Kovind will confer the award on Teacher’s day, September 5.
Among the selected teachers for the National Teachers Award 2021, two are from Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Sikkim, Odisha, Bihar, Gujarat, and Rajasthan. Nine of the awardees this year are women.
Promod Kumar Shukla, a teacher from Eklavya model residential school, Karpawand, Bastar, Chhattisgarh is also among the list. Mathew K Thomas, a teacher from Sainik School, Kazhakootam, Thiruvananthapuram, will also be receiving the award on Teacher's day.

The selection of the teachers was made by a state-level selection committee/ central award committee.
The teachers were asked to self-nominate themselves between June 1 and July 10 and a jury had selected the awardees through VC or physical interaction on August 10.
The purpose of the National Awards to Teachers is to celebrate the unique contribution of some of the finest teachers in the country and to honour those teachers who through their commitment and industry have not only improved the quality of school education but also enriched the lives of their students.

The National Teachers Award 2021 winners are from Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Delhi, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Odisha, West Bengal, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Sikkim, Mizoram, Tripura, Assam, Jharkhand, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and Puducherry.
