NCTE opens ITEP 2027-28 application form at par.ncte.gov.in; apply by May 31

The National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) has started the online application process for the sixth phase of the Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) 2027-28. Interested and eligible institutions can fill out the ITEP 2027 application form on the official website, par.ncte.gov.in/itep, by May 31.

The ITEP programme will be conducted as part of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 to improve the quality of teacher education in India. The selection process is for multidisciplinary institutions that meet certain academic and quality standards.

Institutions applying for ITEP will have to pay the processing fee according to the NCTE Rules, 1997, and later updates.

According to the NCTE, institutions can apply for ITEP if they come under any one of the approved categories. This includes Institutes of Eminence (IoEs), Institutions of National Importance (IoNIs), and UGC Category 1 institutions.

ITEP application form 2027-28

Universities and colleges with good accreditation or rankings are also eligible to apply. Institutions with an NAAC grade of B++ or above can apply. Universities ranked between 1 and 200 in NIRF, colleges ranked between 1 and 300, and state public universities ranked between 1 and 100 are also eligible. Institutions ranked among the top 50 in NIRF subject-specific rankings related to teacher education can also apply.

The NCTE has further included UGC-recognised universities that run undergraduate (UG), postgraduate (PG), and PhD programmes. These include central universities, state universities, state private universities, and deemed universities.

The council said that institutions meeting these shortlisting criteria will be further evaluated based on the existing norms and standards prescribed by NCTE.

The shortlisting rules were approved at the 69th General Body meeting of the council held on May 5, 2026.
