NEW DELHI: Doctor of Medicine (MD) in radio-diagnosis and general medicine remained the top postgraduate medical programme choices among the best NEET PG scorers last year. The admission to the PG medical courses will be based on the result of National Eligibility Entrance Test - Postgraduate (NEET PG) 2024. The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) will announce the NEET PG result 2024 soon at natboard.edu.in, nbe.edu.in.
Last year’s NEET PG toppers Aarushi Narwani (rank 1) and Rupesh (rank 3) secured seats in MD radio-diagnosis programme at Delhi’s Vardhman Mahavir Medical College (VMMC), according to an official data. Machave Ameya Prasad, who grabbed the fifth rank in PG medical entrance exam, went for a degree in MD general medicine at Lokmanya Tilak Medical College, Mumbai.
The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) conducts NEET PG counselling every year for the All India Quota (AIQ) seats in PG courses such as general medicine, gynaecology , orthopaedics at government and private medical colleges across the country. There are four rounds of MD, Master of Surgery (MS) admissions – round 1, round 2, round 3, and stray vacancy round. Special counselling rounds are held in case of vacant seats remaining after the fourth round. The admission process includes registration, choice-filling, seat allotment, and reporting.
Of top 20 NEET PG candidates who were allotted courses and colleges last year, those who secured 20th and 27th positions did not report, according to the MCC list of joined candidates up to round 3.
