NEW DELHI: The National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test postgraduate (NEET PG 2024) results are expected to be announced soon for admission into MD, MS, PG diploma, MBBS DNB, DrNB, and NBEMS diploma courses. A total of 2,28,540 candidates registered for the entrance exam this year. The NEET PG exam 2024 was held on August 11 in two shifts.
The NEET PG results 2024 are likely to be declared by August-end, as per reports. However, there is no official confirmation on NEET PG result date 2024.
The Union health ministry informed the Lok Sabha earlier this year that NEET PG seats have increased from 31,185 before 2014 to 70,645 as of now.
Based on the NEET PG 2024 scores, admission will be granted to 26,168 Doctor of Medicine (MD), 13,649 Master of Surgery (MS), 922 PG Diploma and 1,338 DNB CET seats.
As per the data shared by the government, Maharashtra has the highest number of 3,576 PG medical seats in government medical colleges and Karnataka has a maximum of 4,593 PG seats in private medical colleges.
The board introduced mandatory time-bound sections and multiple shifts this year. Moreover, it has adopted the normalisation method followed by AIIMS for its entrance exams in NEET PG result preparation. Candidates had to attempt 200 multiple-choice questions carrying 800 marks.
In case two or more candidates obtain the same marks in the PG medical entrance exam, the NBEMS will follow the tie-breaking rule given below in sequential order.

“A postgraduate undergoing training MS in Orthopaedics should be trained to identify and recognize various congenital, developmental, inflammatory, infective, traumatic, metabolic, neuromuscular, degenerative and oncologic disorders of the musculoskeletal systems. She/he should be able to provide competent professional services to trauma and orthopaedic patients at a primary/ secondary/tertiary healthcare centres,” as per NMC.
