NEW DELHI: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has notified that the NEET re-exam will be conducted for 1,563 candidates, who got grace marks, on June 23 from 2 pm to 5 pm. The National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) results 2024 of these candidates will tentatively be declared on June 30, NTA informed. The Supreme Court cancelled the NEET 2024 result today for these students following a huge controversy over award of grace marks.

The testing agency has taken the decision to conduct a re-exam based on the recommendations of the ‘high-powered’ committee formed to look into the grievances raised by NEET candidates over grace marks given to some students due to loss of time in the exam held on May 5. Various candidates filed petitions in the high courts and the top court challenging the additional marks and demanded a re-test citing irregularities and paper leak allegations.

“The High Powered committee after in-depth consideration of all relevant aspects submitted its recommendations/report which has been accepted by NTA. As per the recommendations of the High Powered Committee, NTA decided to reconduct the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Undergraduate) [NEET (UG)]-2024 on 23 June 2024 for 1563 candidates who had experienced time loss during the originally scheduled examination on 05 May 2024 and were awarded compensatory marks,” NTA said in an official statement.

NTA iterated that the re-exam will be held only for those who were awarded ‘compensatory marks’ during the initial revaluation. Those candidates who do not wish to re-appear for the NEET 2024 exam scheduled for June 23 will have to accept their actual scores, the ones before the addition of compensatory marks, it informed.

NEET Re-exam 2024: Validity, scorecard

As per NTA, the NEET re-exam is valid for the following cases only:

  • NEET 2024 score cards of all affected (1,563) candidates issued on June 4 will stand cancelled and thus withdrawn. The affected candidates will be informed of their actual scores (without compensation), through their registered email IDs.
  • A re-exam will be conducted for the affected 1,563 candidates.
  • NEET UG result 2024 of the affected candidates who do not wish to retake the exam will be declared based on their actual marks (without compensation) obtained in the examination conducted on May 5.
  • The marks obtained by the candidates who will appear in the retest will be considered and their marks based on the May 5 exam will be discarded.
