NEW DELHI: The National Eligibility Entrance Test - Undergraduate (NEET UG) 2025 is scheduled to be held on May 4 in pen and paper mode. The NEET UG 2025 exam will have three sections including Physics, Chemistry, and Biology carrying 180 questions in total.

Chemistry is one of the three core subjects in NEET UG medical entrance exam, alongside physics and biology . The subject carries significant weightage of chapters in NEET 2025, contributing to 180 marks out of the total 720. Medical aspirants will have to attempt 45 questions from chemistry.
Earlier, the National Testing Agency (NTA) notified the NEET UG 2025 syllabus and stated the NEET UG 2025 exam will be conducted based on the syllabus finalised by the National Medical Commission (NMC). The detailed NEET UG 2025 syllabus PDF is available to download on the official website at neet.nta.nic.in.
The NEET UG 2025 exam is conducted for admission to Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS), and other undergraduate medical programmes . The registration process for NEET UG 2025 is underway and the last date to fill out the application form is March 7, 2025, at 11:50 pm.
NEET 2025 Chemistry Weightage: High-scoring section
The chemistry section in NEET UG 2025 is further divided into three branches: physical chemistry, inorganic chemistry, and organic chemistry. While biology has the highest weightage in NEET UG 2025 exam, chemistry also plays a crucial role in determining overall NEET UG rank .
Among the three branches of chemistry, physical chemistry and organic chemistry weightage in NEET UG are considered to have higher, compared to inorganic chemistry. In organic chemistry, some basic principles and techniques and hydrocarbons are two chapters from where most of the questions are asked in NEET UG medical entrance exam.
In Physica chemistry, most of the questions are asked from chemical bonding and molecular structure, electrochemistry and thermodynamics. Inorganic chemistry is not high weightage chapters for NEET and considered relatively easier as straightforward questions are generally asked from this section.
