NEET 2025 exam passing marks out of 720 for MBBS aspirants

NEW DELHI : The National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET UG) 2025 on May 4 in a pen-and-paper mode for admission to undergraduate medical programmes for the academic session 2025-26. The testing agency clarified that NEET UG 2025 scores will also be applicable to Bachelor of Dental Studies (BDS), and Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry (BVSc and AH) courses.
Revising the NEET UG exam pattern 2025 , the testing agency has removed the optional questions from section B of the test. Now, the NEET UG 2025 question paper will comprise 180 multiple choice questions.
Accordingly, the physics and chemistry sections in the NEET UG question paper 2025 will contain 45 questions each whereas the biology section will include 90 questions. Each section will carry 180 marks and thus the exam will be held for a total of 720 marks this year too.
There has been no change in the NEET UG 2025 marking scheme. Candidates will still be awarded four marks for each correct answer and will lose one mark for answering a question wrongly. No marks will be given for questions left unanswered or unattempted.
NEET exam passing marks
As per NEET passing marks, aspirants belonging to the general category are required to score 50th percentile in the exam. For Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), the qualifying marks are 40th percentile while the physically handicapped (PH) candidates need 45th percentile.
NEET UG qualifying marks are basically NEET UG cut-off which will be announced after the declaration of NEET UG results. Last year, NEET exam passing marks were 720-137 for the general category and 136-107 for SC, ST, and Other Backward Classes (OBC) candidates.
