NEW DELHI: Union education minister on Friday joined a discussion on research and development (R&D) fair to be held by Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) in November to celebrate “Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav” and create a suitable environment for research under National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, he said on social media.

Pradhan further expressed his joy over the fact that 23 IITs will together focus on building innovations for the Indians as well as international markets to enable ease-of-living.

“Joined a discussion on the R&D fair by the IITs to be held in November, 2021 to celebrate #AmrutMahotsav and also create an enabling environment for cutting-edge research as envisaged in the NEP,” Dharmendra Pradhan said in a social media post.

Pradhan added: “Happy to know that all 23 IITs are coming together to focus on developing innovations for the Indian and global markets to facilitate ease-of-living.”

“These R&D fairs will also serve as a platform for greater linkages between the industry and academia and pave the way for India to become a global superpower in science and futuristic technologies,” the BJP leader further said.

Recently, Dharmendra Pradhan announced that he will be meeting vice-chancellors of 45 central universities today to discuss various issues under NEP 2020 such as implementation of National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, Academic Bank of Credit (ABC), multiple entry – exit system, open and online education, celebration of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ and others.

On August 24, commemorating the one-year anniversary of NEP, Pradhan launched the major initiatives of NEP 2020 like NIPUN Bharat FLN tools and resources on DIKSHA, Virtual School of NIOS, alternate academic calendar 2021-22 of NCERT, Priya, and a booklet on one-year achievement of the implementation of the policy.
