: Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad emerged as the premier management institute in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2021, which was released on Thursday.

IIM Bangalore clinched the second spot while IIM Calcutta was ranked third in NIRF MBA ranking 2021. All three IIMs have maintained their position from last year's NIRF rankings for MBA. IIM Kozhikode and Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi bagged fourth and fifth place in NIRF MBA ranking this year.

Leaving behind newer IIMs, IIT Kharagpur and IIT Bombay made it to the top 10 MBA NIRF ranking 2021. These IITs have consistently been ranked best in the country. Last year among the top 10 B-schools, IIM Lucknow was ranked fourth while IIM Kozhikode and IIM Indore bagged the sixth and seventh place respectively.
Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan released the sixth edition of the NIRF, which also saw IIT Madras and Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore and IIT Bombay emerge as the top three educational institute across the country.

Launched by the education ministry in 2015, the NIRF ranking judges educational institutes on parameters like teaching, learning and resources, research and professional practices, graduation outcome outreach and inclusivity, and perception. The rankings have been released for a total of 11 categories – overall, universities, engineering , colleges, management , pharmacy, medical , architecture, dental, law, and research institutions.
IIT Madras clinched the top position in the overall and engineering NIRF ranking 2021. AIIMS, Delhi has been adjudged the best medical college while the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru was declared the best in NIRF 2021 university rankings.

NIRF ranking 2021: Top private management colleges
Xavier Labour Relations Institute (XLRI) is the only private management institution to be featured in the top ten NIRF MBA rankings this year. MDI Gurgaon, which was in the tenth position last year has slipped down to 11th rank this year.
