NMC processes 119 more applications to increase NEET PG seats, start new courses

NEW DELHI: The National Medical Commission (NMC) informed that communication with respect to 119 more application forms from medical colleges to increase NEET PG seats and for starting new postgraduate medical courses has been sent. A total of 1,488 online PG medical course applications have been processed so far.
Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) has reviewed the applications on the basis of “establishment of medical institutions, assessment and rating regulations, 2023 published on 2nd June, 2023, PG-Medical Education Regulation 2000 issued on 22nd August, 2000” and other criteria.
“Communications in respect of remaining applications received online will be sent in due course,” it added.
As per the latest update, 16 medical colleges have not specified their name of the institution in the application. It has also updated the application status of 106 requests to increase PG seats.
The scrutiny includes reviewing the parameters and documents such as essentiality certificate (EC), Consent of Affiliation (CoA), application fees, bank guarantee, relevant letters such as status of MBBS course, letter of permission.
“In case of non-fulfillment of minimum standard requirements/rectification of deficiencies, the medical college/institution will be subjected to disapproval and order will be issued for the same as per sec 28(3) of the NMC Act, 2019,” the NMC informed.
The NMC recently also warned medical aspirants and stakeholders against fake letters issued to medical colleges in the name of Undergraduate Medical Education Board (UGMEB).
