NMIMS Chief Academic Officer appointed founding Director of IIIT Lucknow

NEW DELHI, FEBRUARY 23: Union Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) has appointed Prof. Arun Mohan Sherry, an alumnus of IIT-Kharagpur as the founding director of the Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Lucknow. As per the MHRD order, Dr Sherry has been appointed to the post for a duration of five years.
A high-level Search-cum-Selection Committee under the Chairmanship of Secretary Higher Education MHRD; Prof. P P Chakraborty, Director IIT Kharagpur; Prof. U. B. Desai, Director IIT Hyderabad and Dr V K Pathak, Vice Chancellor A P J Abdul Kalam Technical University recommended the name of Dr Sherry for this position. Presently, Prof. Sherry is the Chief Academic Officer (CAO) of Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai.
Indian Institutes of Information Technology established by the Government of India by the IIIT Act, 2017 as an Institute of National Importance.
The permanent campus of IIIT, Lucknow is coming up in 50 acres of land at Lucknow. The Institute is being set up with the financial contributions of MHRD, Government of Uttar Pradesh, and U. P. Electronics Corporation Ltd. as the industry partner.
The institute is surrounded by a 100 Acre IT City SEZ Lucknow project which is being developed by HCL Group envisages an initial investment of approx. Rs 1500 crores. The IT city will provide direct employment to 25,000 people with indirect employment to approx. 50,000 people.
Apart from teaching and research, He has also served in several senior-level leadership positions such as Chairman (Research), Chairman (Students Affairs), Dean (Academics), Chairman (Joint Admission Committee) of IMT Ghaziabad and Director of IMT-CDL, Ghaziabad.
He has also served as Chief Academic Officer (CAO) of a Joint venture between HT Media Ltd. and Apollo Global (USA). He has also served as the Dean & Head of Academics of HCL TalentCare.
