No partial approval of technical courses will be given to universities: AICTE

AICTE informed all central, state, private, deemed to be universities to either take full approval of technical courses or continue without approval.
NEW DELHI: The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has decided not to give partial approval of technical courses to central, state, private, and deemed to be universities.

“It has been observed that some of the universities are taking partial approval of AICTE for some selected technical programmes, which is creating confusion among the stakeholders. Therefore, AICTE decided that no partial approval of technical courses will be given to Universities in order to avoid confusion among stakeholders,” said AICTE in an official letter.
Accordingly, all universities have to take either full approval of AICTE for technical courses or continue without its approval, it said.

All Deemed to be Universities which have not obtained approval so far are required to obtain AICTE approval in the academic year 2022-23, otherwise the Council will be constrained to stop giving approval obtained partially to only few technical programmes, it said.
The Council said that a university does not require its prior approval to start a new department of courses and programmes in technical education.

For the purpose of ensuring coordinated and integrated development of technical education and maintenance of standards, AICTE may cause an inspection of the university…Further, all training institutions running technical education programmes require prior approval of AICTE,” the Council added.
