Noida schools closed till Class 8 due to cold weather conditions

NEW DELHI: Due to the severe cold wave, all schools in Noida from Classes 1 to 8 will remain shut starting today until further notice. The Gautam Buddha Nagar district magistrate Manish Kumar Verma has decided schools will remain closed due to extreme cold weather conditions and fog in the city.

All schools including the state board, and CBSE ICSE will remain closed. The district’s basic education officer Rahul Panwar shared the letter to all school principals in Noida.

According to the DM's official notice, the decision has been taken due to intensifying cold weather conditions. Children going to school will face problems due to fog. The temperature is hovering between 8 and 17 degrees on Thursday, according to the India Meteorological Department reports.

On December 29, a sudden drop in temperature was observed. The DM of Meerut, Bagpat, and other districts announced holidays. Schools in Ghaziabad were shut due to the heavy rainfall on December 30.

Winter Vacation in UP schools

Winter Vacation started in many schools has also begun. UP schools will remain shut till January 15. The Haryana government also ordered the winter vacation in Haryana schools starting January 1 to January 15, 2025. The Directorate of Education (DoE) Delhi also ordered winter break for all government schools starting from January 1.

Schools in Jammu and Kashmir have announced winter holidays till February 28, in the winter zones areas of the Jammu division starting from December 10. The minister for school education Sakina Masood Itoo announced the decision on X (formerly Twitter) by sharing an official order through the school education department.
