JEE Main 2026 April 6 shift 2 exam ‘easy to moderate’; Maths toughest, Physics easier

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has concluded the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main 2026) day 4 shift 2 exam today, April 6, 2026 from 3 pm to 6 pm. As per the analysis, the overall exam was easy to moderate in difficulty. As per the experts from Careers360, Chemistry and Physics sections were mostly straightforward and formula-based, making them easier to attempt, while Mathematics was comparatively more challenging due to lengthy and time-consuming calculations.

In Chemistry, the weightage was highest for Physical Chemistry, followed by Organic and Inorganic. Overall, in terms of difficulty level, Mathematics was the toughest, followed by Chemistry and then Physics as the easiest section.

JEE Main Physics analysis

The Physics section was rated easy to moderate in difficulty. It was easier compared to the January session, and most students were able to complete it within 40–45 minutes. Physics was considered the easiest among all three subjects, making it a high-scoring section for many candidates.

However, the section was lengthy and time-consuming, requiring strong conceptual clarity rather than just formula-based solving.

The Chemistry section was also rated easy to moderate, falling between Physics and Mathematics in terms of difficulty. It was slightly tougher than Physics but easier than Maths and was comparable to the January session. The section had a higher weightage of Organic and Physical Chemistry, along with several statement-based questions, making it somewhat lengthy. Overall, the weightage trend followed Physical > Organic > Inorganic.

JEE Main 2026 day 4 shift 2 exam: Tentative percentile vs score

According to Careers360 experts, since the paper was easy to moderate, students may get higher percentiles at slightly lower scores compared to easier shifts. Based on the initial estimate, a score of around 184–193 could lead to a 99.5 percentile, while 173–182 marks may correspond to about 99.1 percentile. Those scoring between 165–171 marks are expected to get around a 98.5 percentile.
