PAU Botany head wins gold medal for outstanding research

PAU Botany head Pushp Sharma is a Principal Investigator (PI) of plant physiology in AICRP-RM since 2013.
NEW DELHI : Pushp Sharma, principal physiologist (oilseeds) and head of botany department of Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana has been honoured with a gold medal by the Society for Rapeseed-Mustard Research (SRMR), Bharatpur, Rajasthan. She has been awarded for her outstanding contribution to rapeseed mustard plant physiology research and services rendered to the SRMR.
Sharma was awarded with the gold medal at the fifth National Brassica Conference (NBC) on “Oilseed Brassicas for Sustainability, Profitability and Nutritional Security”, held at the Rajasthan Agricultural Research Institute, Durgapura, Jaipur, from February 7 to 9. The conference was organized by the SRMR in collaboration with the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR)-directorate of Rapeseed Mustard Research, Bharatpur and the Sri Karan Narendra Agriculture University, Jobner. Sharma also delivered a talk on “Climate change and abiotic stresses in Brassicas: PGRs, morph-physiological and biochemical insights”.

Sharma is a principal investigator (PI) of plant physiology in the All India Coordinated Research Project on Rapeseed Mustard (AICRP-RM) since 2013. She is also a fellow and editor of the Journal of Oilseed Brassica, published by the SRMR, Bharatpur.
Satbir Singh Gosal, vice-chancellor, PAU, and other officials of the university extended their congratulations to Sharma for this recognition at the national level.
