Central Sanskrit University Convocation: Over 3,000 students will be conferred with their degrees
NEW DELHI: The Central Sanskrit University hosted its inaugural convocation ceremony today, March 7. President of India, Droupadi Murmu attended the convocation event and delivered the commencement address as the chief guest. During the event, almost 3,000 students from various courses, including doctorates, received their degrees.
Speaking on the occasion, Droupadi Murmu stated that pride in Indian culture is the foundation of our national conscience. When we realise how rich our country's culture is, we feel proud. Our cultural history is maintained in Sanskrit. As a result, acquiring cultural knowledge in the Sanskrit language serves the nation.
Sanskrit’s contribution to other Indian languages
The President stated that the Sanskrit language has weaved the diversity of our vast region into a single thread of togetherness. Sanskrit's vocabulary has contributed to several Indian languages, which are now flourishing across regions and states. It is the language of both God and humans.

Women empowerment
The President stated that the language in which women scholars such as Gargi, Maitreyi, Apala, and Lopamudra have made lasting contributions should have the highest level of female engagement. She was pleased to see that the number of boys and girls who won gold medals in today's convocation was about equal. She praised Central Sanskrit University's initiatives to empower women.
The President stated that many good literature on spirituality and morality are accessible in Sanskrit. According to her, the wisdom imparted by the Acharyas to the people in ancient times is still applicable today and will continue to be valuable. She explained to the students that it was their responsibility to speak the truth, conduct ethically, not be inattentive in self-study, not turn away from duty, and be aware of auspicious works. This will allow them to do justice to their skill while still completing their duties successfully.
