Shiv Nadar University to launch PG certificate course in life sciences research; 20 seats available

The Shiv Nadar University is expected to start the registrations for the PG certificate programme in life sciences in the mid of March 2025.
NEW DELHI: The Shiv Nadar University (SNU), Greater Noida, has announced that it will launch a one-year post-baccalaureate, postgraduate certificate programme in life sciences research for undergraduates. A total of 20 seats have been approved for the inaugural cohort.
The university is expected to start the registrations for the PG certificate programme in life sciences in the mid of March 2025, as per the official statement. The course will be launched with a view to fill the gap in undergraduate education, the university said.
Sanjeev Galande, dean, school of natural sciences, Shiv Nadar University, said: “This program provides a hands-on research experience that goes beyond theoretical learning. Through advanced laboratory techniques and participation in ongoing research projects, students will gain valuable expertise, making them competitive candidates for top PhD programs and research positions.”
The certificate programme will offer hands-on practical training to students. 20 faculty members from the SNU will provide mentorship and interdisciplinary guidance across various life sciences domains.

Students will also learn about molecular biology, microscopy, cell culture, and model organisms such as fruit flies, hydra, planaria, and zebrafish. “The research will span seven key thematic areas, including Age & Metabolism, Disease Pathogenesis & Therapeutics, Plant and Agricultural Biotechnology & Sustainability, Neuroscience, and Brain & Cognition,” the university added.
Candidates with BSc, BTech or equivalent degrees with at least 60% or CGPA 6/10 are eligible to apply for the programme.
Merit-based scholarships worth Rs 1 lakh each will be granted to top 4 selected students with accessibility to high-impact research training. In addition, students will be trained in problem-solving, analytical, and teamwork skills to ensure they are well-equipped for scientific research and innovation careers.
