Tamil Nadu Historical Studies Fellowship: Application deadline extended to December 5

The research centre will provide fellowships to 20 post graduates and researchers for studying and analysing the rare historical documents preserved in the Tamil Nadu archives.
The Tamil Nadu History Research Centre has extended the application deadline for research fellowship in historical studies. Eligible candidates can now apply for the fellowship through the official websites at tamilnaduarchives.tn.gov.in by December 5.
The history centre will provide fellowships to 20 post graduates and researchers for studying and analysing the rare historical documents preserved in the Tamil Nadu archives.
Earlier, the application window was closing today. However, the centre has extended the application deadline by a week. Applicants should have to complete their application forms and upload the required documents online before December 5.
“To undertake research using the rare documents preserved in the Tamil Nadu Archives and to highlight the illustrious history of Tamil Nadu, postgraduate degree holders or independent researchers were invited to apply online through the website [www.tamilnaduarchives.tn.gov.in](http://www.tamilnaduarchives.tn.gov.in) from 17.11.2025 to 28.11.2025,” the official notice reads.

Research Fellowship in Historical Studies: Selection process
Kovi Chelian, minister for higher education, announced that the last date for receiving applications from researchers to study and analyse the rare historical documents preserved in the Tamil Nadu archives, to educate the masses about the history of Tamil society has been extended.
Selected candidates for research fellowship will be provided a monthly grant of Rs 50,000 for one year. There is no age limit to apply, but preference will be given to researchers under 50 years of age.
Researchers will be selected on the basis of their project proposals, and the final selection will be done based on the applicant’s educational qualification, research and work experience.
Interested post graduates and researchers can also apply for the fellowship directly through their institutions with a prescribed form, along with a detailed research proposal (pdf) of at least 2,000 words.
