Tamil Nadu NEET PG 2025 counselling starts; fees and bond rules out; apply by September 16

The selection committee of the Directorate of Medical Education and Research has started the registration process for the Tamil Nadu NEET PG 2025 counselling. Candidates seeking admission to postgraduate medical and diploma courses in government and self-financing medical colleges will have to register on the official website, tnmedicalselection.net, to participate in the counselling. While the TN NEET PG counselling dates 2025 have been announced, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) is yet to announce the NEET PG schedule for All India Quota (AIQ) seats. Meanwhile, the Supreme Court will take up all cases related to the NEET PG mark discrepancies and exam transparency on September 12.

As per the Tamil Nadu NEET PG 2025 counselling schedule, the last date to apply for the admission process is September 16 by 5 pm. The dates for publication of merit list, choice filling and seat allotment will be notified soon.

As per the eligibility criteria, candidates applying for admission at Tamil Nadu medical colleges should have obtained a minimum NEET PG cut-off score out of 800. General category candidates should have secured 276 (50th percentile), SC, ST, and OBC should have scored 235 (40th percentile), and General-PwD candidates should have a score of 255 (45th percentile) to be eligible for admission.

Tamil Nadu NEET PG counselling fees

The Tamil Nadu medical selection committee has issued separate information brochures for government and management quota.

The application fee for government seats, and seats in self-financing colleges affiliated to Dr MGR Medical University is Rs 3,000 and the Tamil Nadu NEET PG counselling fee is Rs 1,000.

Those applying under the management quota will have to pay an application fee of Rs 5,000 and a non-refundable registration fee of Rs 1,000. SC and ST candidates applying for the government seats are exempted from paying the application fees.

Along with the application fee, candidates have to pay a security amount of Rs 30,000 to apply for a seat in government medical colleges and Rs 1 lakh for government quota seats in self-financing colleges. To apply for management quota seats, candidates will have to pay Rs 2 lakh as security deposit.

The Tamil Nadu NEET PG security deposit will be refunded within three months after the completion of the entire counselling process if a candidate does not secure a seat.

Tamil Nadu NEET PG bond policy

Candidates should upload their service details, duly certified by the officials, along with the filled application form before September 16.

Medical officers recruited by the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) or Medical Services Recruitment Board (MRB) through competitive or special qualifying exams and appointed in Tamil Nadu Medical Services must have completed a minimum of two years of continuous service as on March 31, 2025.

Medical officers serving in local bodies in Tamil Nadu are also required to have completed at least two years of continuous service by the same date.

Candidates applying for state quota will have to pay a penalty of up to Rs 15 lakh if they choose to discontinue the course after the resignation period. The total charges should be paid by means of a Demand Draft drawn in favour of “The Secretary, Selection Committee, Kilpauk, Chennai– 10”.

The discontinuation fees for PG diploma courses are Rs10 lakh and PG degree courses are Rs 15 lakh.
