Chief minister Revanth Reddy took the decision after health minister Damodar Rajanarsimha's request.
As a result, around 318 PG medical and 70 dental seats will be available for Telangana students, the health minister informed. CM Reddy has directed the health secretary to issue a Government Order (GO) immediately.

He stated that this decision will hugely benefit thousands of MBBS graduates aspiring for PG medical seats. Compared to MBBS, PG seats are fewer in number, leading to intense competition for them, he noted. Until now, without a quota for Telangana students in the management quota seats, students from other states have been coming here to pursue their PG degrees, he explained.

The health minister said that changes have been made to the seat allocation rules in response to the requests of the doctors. From now on, 85 percent of seats in the management quota and 100 percent of seats in the convenor quota will go exclusively to students from our state, the minister elaborated. “As a result, the number of specialist doctors in the state will increase, thereby providing better medical services to the public,” he added.
