NEW DELHI: A Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) team was attacked in Bihar's Nawada district, reported Nawada Police. According to police sources, the incident occurred during their probe into allegations surrounding the UGC-NET 2024 paper leak.

According to Hindustan Times report, the four-member CBI team, led by an inspector rank officer from Delhi, arrived in Rajauli, Nawada district, on Saturday to investigate the UGC NET paper leak case. According to officials, they had gone to the village to locate suspects linked to the case based on their cell phone locations.
According to Nawada Police, they received an information that the CBI team was being obstructed by a local mob in Kasiyadih village under the police station area. The situation quickly escalated, requiring immediate intervention to ensure the safety of the CBI officers and enable them to carry out their official responsibilities without hindrance.
Responding promptly, the police station sent its patrol team along with an Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) vehicle to the scene. The officer in charge of the police station also rushed to the location. Upon arrival, the police successfully dispersed the mob and safely escorted the CBI team to the police station.

Following the incident, the CBI team filed a First Information Report (FIR) citing obstruction in government work, assault, and other related charges. The FIR marked the beginning of a thorough investigation into the matter.

In the subsequent investigation, four individuals were identified as primary suspects responsible for the obstruction and assault. These accused have been apprehended and placed in judicial custody, as the legal proceeding continues.
