UGC NET June 2026: NTA will hold re-exams for affected students in September after the committee’s recommendation

The National Testing Agency (NTA) will hold re-exams for UGC NET June 2026 English, commerce, and sociology subjects after students raised concerns about multiple errors in the question papers. NTA had formed a committee to look into the errors, and based on its recommendations, new dates have been announced for the affected students. UGC NET 2026 June Live Updates

NTA will conduct a re-exam for UGC NET 2026 English , commerce, and sociology subjects in September. The details for the city, centre, and admit card for the students will be announced separately.

Notably, no additional exam fees will be charged to candidates for the re-conduct of the exam.

The re-exam is being held after students raised concerns over several errors , such as factual, typographical, translation, including misspelled names of prominent scholars, errors in the stem wording of questions, grammatical errors, and non-standard coined terms for established concepts, as well as repetition of a significant number of questions from previously administered exams.

UGC NET June 2026 re-exam dates

The UGC NET June re-exam dates and timings for three subjects are shown in the table below.

No delay in result declaration, says NTA

NTA has already issued UGC NET 2026 provisional answer keys for 84 subjects , and students who find any discrepancy in the answer keys can raise objections by August 18.

However, the NTA has assured students that the declaration of the UGC NET June 2026 results will not be delayed due to the re-conduct of the three subjects.

Significantly, as per NTA, the number of candidates to be qualified for eligibility for assistant professor shall be equal to 6% of the aspirants who appeared in the test conducted in June 2026, or the retest, whichever is higher.

The subject-wise allocation for the remaining 3 subjects for JRF, eligibility for assistant professor, and for admission to PhD will be done as mentioned in the information bulletin. After the retest, the numbers already allocated for each subject shall not be reduced under any circumstances.
