Don't Miss: UGC NET Sample Papers
UGC NET June result 2024 will be declared for over 9 lakh aspirants who sat for the exams held between August 21 and September 4.
UGC NET 2024 results will be prepared on the basis of the UGC NET final answer key 2024. The provisional answer key was issued on September 11. The UGC NET answer key 2024 sparked a controversy after candidates alleged errors in the history answer key.
The June edition of the UGC NET exam was initially conducted on June 18 in a single shift for the first time, however, it was cancelled due to alleged paper leak on DarkNet. The Ministry of Education announced the cancellation of the exam over possible “compromise” in the integrity of the test. The testing agency later announced the rescheduled exam dates.
NTA UGC NET Result 2024: Normalization process
For papers conducted in multiple shifts, NTA uses score normalization method to eliminate the difference in difficulty level of the various question papers attempted by students. Under the normalization method, the raw scores of candidates are converted into percentile scores. The normalized scores are based on the relative performance of all candidates who appeared for the exam. The percentile score will be calculated up to seven decimal places to avoid bunching effects and reduce the possibility of ties.
Step-by-step procedure for normalization and result preparation is given below.
Step 1: Distribution of examinees in two shifts
Candidates will be distributed in two sessions randomly having approximately equal number of students. The two sessions will be as follows:
- Session 1: Day 1, shift 1
- Session 2: Day 1, shift 2
Step 2: Preparation of result for each session
The UGC NET exam result for each session will be prepared in the form of:
- Raw scores
- Percentile scores of total raw scores
The percentile score of a candidate is calculated as follows:
100 X Number of candidates appeared in the ‘Session’ with raw score equal to or less than the candidate / Total number of the candidates appeared in the ’Session’
Step 3: Compilation of NTA score and result preparation
The percentile score for the total raw score for all the sessions would be merged and will be called NTA scores which will be further used for result preparation.
