University of Delhi EC hosts 1272nd meeting; approves EPF for contractual employees

NEW DELHI: University of Delhi Executive Council (EC) held its 1272nd meeting under the chairmanship of the vice-chancellor of the university, professor Yogesh Singh. The meeting was held today October 14, at the Convention Hall of the university. During the meeting, important issues were discussed and passed. The approval was given to implement the Employees Provident Fund Scheme (EPF) for the contractual employees of DU, the official notice said.

At the beginning of the meeting, 2 minutes of silence was observed to pay tribute to Padma Vibhushan Ratan Tata.

Yogesh Singh stated that as per the finance committee, after due deliberations on all kinds of legal complexities for the EPF scheme, it has been unanimously decided that DU will implement this scheme from October 2024.

“At the beginning of the meeting, DU registrar Vikas Gupta presented the agenda. During the discussion on the agenda, the recommendations made in the 1020th meeting of the Academic Council (AC) of the University held on 10th October were also considered,” the official DU notice adds.

DU Executive Council 1272nd meet

EC meeting approved the increase in contractual fees of part-time medical officers (GDMO) on a contract basis. The current payment of Rs 45,000 per month for a part-time contract medical officer (GDMO) working in WUSHC has been increased to Rs 55,000 per month. The payment will be effective from October 2024, with an annual increase of 5% from 1st April every year

However, other terms of their appointment will remain unchanged. A notional pay hike to the retiring employees of the University on retirement on 30th June, and 31st December respectively in accordance with the recommendations of the finance committee was also approved by the EC.

The decisions made during the meeting will be sent to UGC for approval, the official DU note adds.

Recommendations EC meeting

As per the DUs notice, recommendations of the faculty of social sciences regarding starting east asian language courses in Ramjas College, Hansraj College, and Ram Lal Anand College under the department of East Asian Studies have also been approved by the EC.

Under this, advanced diploma courses in the Korean language will be started at Ramjas College, certificate courses in the Chinese language, diploma in the Korean language, and diploma courses in the Japanese language will be started at Hansraj College.

Moreover, advanced diploma courses in Chinese and Japanese will also be started at Ram Lal Anand College. The recommendations made in the meeting of the faculty of social sciences in this regard have been approved.
