UP: Over 6 lakh out-of-school, disabled children enrolled in primary schools in last 4 years
UP CM earlier said that the inter-departmental convergence programmes 'Operation Kayakalp', 'School Chalo Abhiyan' have been implemented in 1.33 lakh schools.

NEW DELHI: The Department of Basic Education, Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday said that more than 40 lakh students enrolled in primary and upper primary schools in four years under its “School Chalo Abhiyan”.
In the last 4 years, 3,96,655 out-of-school students and 2,55,136 differently-abled students under the Samarthya Abhiyan enrolled in UP schools, the department said.
“School Chalo Abhiyan of the Basic Education Department paid off, more than 40 lakh students increased in primary and upper primary schools in 4 years,” it said in a tweet. “Nipun Bharat scheme has helped in sending a large number of students to school in the state,” it added.

In July last year, the UP chief minister Yogi Adiyanath said that the inter-departmental convergence programmes 'Operation Kayakalp' and 'School Chalo Abhiyan' have been implemented in 1.33 lakh schools. The state government had invested Rs 6,200 crore for the development of infrastructure facilities in schools.
Additionally, the department informed that two lakh primary schools of UP, highest number in the country, have been chosen for Centre's 'Rejuvenation of Basic Infrastructure and Overall Cleanliness of Govt Schools' project.
The scheme includes major repairs of dilapidated buildings, whitewashing, functional toilets and drinking water, electricity connection, boundary wall.
