NEW DELHI: The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) has begun the registration process for the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship (NMMS) today, October 18. Eligible students can fill out the Uttarakhand NMMC application form 2025 through the official website, scert.uk.gov.in. The last date to fill out the form is November 6.

The Uttarakhand NMMS 2025 exam is scheduled to be held on December 23, 2024, in two sessions. The first session will take place from 11 am to 12:30 pm, and the second session will be held from 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm.

The SCERT conducts the NMMS exam every year to provide scholarships to deserving students. As per the official notice, a total of 1,00,000 scholarships are available at the national level of which 1,048 scholarships are allocated for students of Uttarakhand.

Selected students from Class 9 to Class 12 will receive a monthly scholarship of Rs 1,000 through the Annual Payment Bridge System (APBS) directly into their bank accounts via a nationalised bank.

Uttarakhand NMMS 2025: Eligibility criteria

Students can review the eligibility criteria to appear for the Uttarakhand NMMS 2025 exam provided below.

  • Students must be enrolled as institutional learners in Class 8 at government schools (excluding central and residential schools), local body schools, or government-aided schools in Uttarakhand.

  • They should have passed the annual examination of Class 7 with a minimum of 55 per cent marks and 50 per cent for Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates.

  • The annual income of the applicant's parents or guardians must not exceed Rs 3,50,000.

State Merit Scholarship Scheme (SMSS)

Along with the NMMS, the SCERT will also administer the Dr Shivanand Nautiyal (SNSS) and State Merit (SMSS) scholarships in Uttarakhand. Under the SNSS scheme, a total of 100 scholarships including 50 for the Garhwal division and 50 for the Kumaon division will be awarded. The SMSS will offer 475 scholarships, distributing five per development block.

Recipients of the SNSS will receive a monthly scholarship of Rs 1,500 for ten months, spanning Class 9 to Class 12, while SMSS recipients will be granted Rs 1,000 per month for the same duration.

As per the SMSS eligibility criteria, students must be enrolled in Class 8 at the government-run, local body, or government-aided schools in Uttarakhand and have passed the Class 7 annual examination with at least 50 per cent marks. A 10 per cent relaxation is applicable for reserved category students.

NMMSS, SMSS Scholarships 2025: Selection process

To get selected for the NMMSS, SMSS scholarships, students will have to pass two written exams which are the Mental Ability Test (MAT) and the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT). Each paper will carry 90 questions carrying one mark. Students will have to score the minimum qualifying marks of 40 per cent for the general category and 32 per cent for SC, ST in both papers to be eligible for the scholarship.
