NEW DELHI: The West Bengal government's department of panchayats and rural development has issued a notification for the recruitment of different positions in the state's gram panchayats, zilla parishads, panchayat samitis, and siliguri mahakuma parishad.
According to a brief notice posted on the West Bengal government's official website at prd.wb.gov.in, the recruitment drive intends to fill 6,652 job vacancies in different positions such as Clerk, executive assistant, engineer, data entry operator, and other panchayat roles.
Candidates are usually required to have a minimum educational qualification of Class 10 (Madhyamik) and12 (Higher Secondary) pass from a recognized board or institution. Some positions may require higher educational qualifications depending on the nature of the job.
The age restriction varies per position and category, although it is generally 18-40 years for unreserved categories, with relaxations for candidates belonging to the Other Backward Classes (OBC), Scheduled Caste (SC), and Scheduled Tribe (ST).
Candidates might need to be residents of the particular Gram Panchayat area or the district for which the recruitment is taking place. This is often a requirement to ensure familiarity with local conditions and issues.

Depending on the position's requirements, the selection process will comprise a written exam, a skill test related to the position, and an interview. The written test will have four sections- maths, English, GK, and Bengali. The paper will include multiple-choice questions only. The interview round will carry a total of 15 marks.
