‘Why has govt cut education funding?’ DU students ask ahead of PM Modi’s visit

Download NowNEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the closing ceremony of the centenary celebration of the University of Delhi’ (DU) tomorrow, June 30. Ahead of the Prime Minister’s visit , All India Students Association (AISA) has put forward certain questions and they want answers from PM Modi. The students association has pasted posters in and around the Delhi University campus. While one question as to why the government has reduced education funding is also among the ones, another question asked is what is the reason for the reduction in the employment rate to 0.1%.

Why the fees in DU colleges are rising every year, the reason behind students being forced to study porgrammes they did not opt for, why chapters on Ambedkar, Gandhi, caste and gender are being deleted are also some of the questions Delhi University students have put forward.

Another question, the DU students want an answer to is, why the teachers who have been teaching them for years are thrown out of the university.
PM Modi will virtually lay the foundation stone of three buildings on the campus tomorrow as part of the closing ceremony of the centenary celebrations and release a set of coffee table books. These buildings, according to a DU official, has been set up for the faculty of technology, a computer centre and an academic block. These will be 7+1 storeyed with state-of-the-art infrastructure, the DU official added.
