New Delhi: The Consortium of NLUs has notified that it will now conduct the pen-and-paper based CLAT 2020 entrance exam on June 21, thus postponing the exam for a second time in the last one month. Earlier on March 27, it had postponed the exam for the first time to May 24; it was originally slated to be conducted on May 10. The last date to submit the CLAT 2020 application form has also been further extended to May 18 from April 25.

The changes in schedule have been made in view of the Lockdown arising out of the Coronavirus outbreak.

COVID-19 outbreak causing major scheduling headache

With the lockdown in place and the number of corona related cases rising on a daily basis, exam officials have no other option but to postpone upcoming events. The fact is until the lockdown is in place, there is no way students can travel and sit in the exams.

Also, since there is little clarity on how the situation might unfold in the coming weeks, don’t be surprised if the CLAT exam is postponed yet again.

Among other popular exams, AILET is already postponed to May 31 (from May 3). Many eyes will also be peeled on MH CET law 2020, which was slated to be held on April 12 but has since been indefinitely postponed.

The Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology has also recently extended application last date and announced that it will release a new exam date. Applications can now be submitted until May 3 (extended from March 31).

COVID-19 update

The total number of cases in India has crossed 18,500 out of which 3251 people have recovered from the disease. Death toll from COVID-19 stands at 590.

Among the states, Maharashtra has the highest number of cases with more than 4600 cases and 232 deaths. It is followed by Delhi (2081), Tamil Nadu (1520), and Rajasthan (1576).
