Upendra Kushwaha, Union Minister of State, Ministry of Human Resource Development in a written reply on the vacant teaching posts in the centrally run institutions stated that filling up of vacancies of teaching staff is a continuous process.
“Some vacancies always exist due to the time lag between occurrence of vacancies and recruitment. However, while the process of regular recruitment is undertaken from time to time, in the interim, with a view to ensuring that the academic interests of the students are not adversely affected, contractual teachers are engaged, as per requirement,” The Minister answered.
The teacher student ratio is 1:25 in JNVs and Central Tibetan Schools Administration (CTSA) schools whereas in the KVs it is 1:27. These compare favourably with the pupil-teacher ratio (PTR) as per the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009.
