Ahmedabad University’s annual economics conference will have a special session for students on introduction to machine learning in economics.
NEW DELHI : Ahmedabad University will conduct its 5th Annual Economics Conference on January 5 and 6, 2024. The university has accepted research papers from students, PhD scholars, academics and other professionals. One of the papers presented will be awarded the Best Paper Prize.
The conference will be held on-site at the central campus of Ahmedabad University. This event offers an opportunity to learn from academicians, explore cutting-edge research, and gain insights into industry trends. The online paper submission window was closed on October 31 and the authors of accepted papers were notified by November 10.
Students will be selected from colleges and universities across the country and invited to attend the conference. A special session on "Introduction to Machine Learning in Economics," led by Sugat Chaturvedi, professor at Amrut Mody School of Management, Ahmedabad University, will be held for them on January 5, 2024.
“This course will give a brief introduction to Machine Learning (ML) methods in Economics, describe some applications of ML, discuss fundamental concepts, and explore one application of text classification,” the university said.
Students will be allowed to ask questions and interact with speakers at sessions and industry panels.
The keynote speakers include Delhi School of Economics' Rohini Somanathan; Ujjayant Chakravorty from Tufts University USA; C Rangarajan,former Reserve Bank of India governor and former Governor of Andhra Pradesh; Ashima Goyal from Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research and member, RBI's Monetary Policy Committee; and Arnab Basu, Cornell University, USA. There will also be speakers from Ok Credit, the National Stock Exchange and Receivables Exchange of India Limited (RXIL).
