AICTE announces applications to set up technical institutions in core branches, extend approvals

Colleges and universities already approved but intend to introduce or continue courses in open and distance learning modes can also apply.
NEW DELHI: The technical education regulator, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), has invited application from new technical institutions in programmes including engineering and technology, planning, applied arts and crafts, design, hotel management and catering technology, computer application (MCA) and management (PGCM/PGDM/MBA).
Applications from those intending to set up new technical institutions will have to submit an online application through the national single window system (NSWS) -- nsws.gov.in. The last date to apply is April 6 and with penalty, it is April 13.
Existing technical institutions can also apply for an extension of approval.

While announcing the application, AICTE has also called for applications from those requiring an extension of approval and obtaining no objection certificate (NOC) for running the programmes in management, computer applications, artificial intelligence and data science, logistics and travel and tourism in online distance learning and online mode from the standalone institutions, institutions deemed to be universities and universities.
All existing technical institutes or deemed to be universities already approved by AICTE shall submit online applications, AICTE added saying that it is not mandatory for the central, state and private universities to take approval of AICTE for technical programmes.
However, it added, such institutions will have to maintain AICTE norms for conducting technical programmes. They may take approval of AICTE to avail various benefits of AICTE schemes including scholarships for the students, it added.
The AICTE has also invited applications from standalone institutions, institutions deemed to be universities and universities already approved by the technical education regulator intending to introduce or continue courses in open and distance learning programmes and online programmes.
