The AIDSO said students have received messages related to four-year degree programmes through the Unified University College Management system portal.
NEW DELHI: The All India Democratic Students’ Organisation (AIDSO) had demanded non-implementation of National Education Policy (NEP 2020) and withdrawal of four-year degree programmes in Karnataka colleges and educational institutions. The AIDSO said the Congress had "announced withdrawal of NEP 2020" in the state after getting a majority in the legislative assembly election but now the policy is being implemented.
The students’ organisation in a press circular said, “Soon after its arrival to power, Karnataka state Congress government announced that it will withdraw NEP 2020 in the state. But, now the messages related to four-year degree are sent to students through UUCMS ( Unified University College Management system) portal.” The students’ organisation said the message “confirms that the government is going to continue the four-year degree programme”.

Calling it an injustice to students, this move of the government has put the future of the students in jeopardy, the AIDSO said. “This message, which has fallen like a thunderbolt on the students who are about to complete their final year graduation, has made them nervous,” AIDSO secretary Ajay Kamath said.
Demanding the withdrawal of the four-degree programme, the AIDSO said the state government should not mess with the future of students with such a move. “If the four-degree programme is not withdrawn, the AIDSO State Committee on behalf of the students of the state will start a massive movement on behalf of the students,” the AIDSO said.
