‘AIIMS behaving like NBE’: INI CET 2026 candidates anxious over far-off exam centres

Several INI CET 2026 candidates have complained about getting far-off exam centres despite giving clear preferences. Doctors and aspirants have compared the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Delhi with the National Board of Examinations (NBE) over the random allocation of exam centres.

AIIMS INI CET admit card 2026 was issued on November 2. The exam is scheduled for November 9 for admissions to postgraduate medical courses at AIIMS and other institutes including JIPMER, NIMHANS, PGIMER, and more.

MBBS students appearing for the AIIMS INI CET November 2025 termed it “cheating”. “While applying, be aware as the choices for exam centres are the name of the states and after paying Rs 4,000 as exam fees you have to travel by flight as they will send you furthest corners of the state. Cheating at its best!,” an aspirant said in a post on X.

A medical student from Lokmanya Tilak Municipal Medical College posted, “For the INI CET Jan 2026 session, I have been allotted an exam centre which is more than 600 kilometres away from my home address. This is despite the fact that my friends who applied after me and who live nearby have been allotted centres which are less than 50 kilometres away.

AIIMS behaving like NBE

Highlighting the issue, a doctor wrote on X, “It’s very unfortunate - AIIMS INICET has started behaving like NBE! Despite asking doctors to select their first preferred state, INICET exam centre allotment has placed many in far-off cities from that preference.”

Pointing out to the travelling situation, a medical officer said, “AIIMS is allocating INI-CET exam centers 500–700 km away from students’ homes, at a time when no train reservations are available on most routes. Has AIIMS also started behaving like the NBE now?”

Another MBBS student explained his problem and said - “I had submitted an application very early, still allotted 350 kilometres away. My friend submitted on the last day to a centre near to my home which is 300km away from him. Such a pathetic condition with no logic at all!”

An MD in laboratory medicine also reflected, “AIIMS is assigning INI-CET test centers 500–700 km from candidates' homes—right when train bookings are sold out on nearly every route. Is AIIMS now pulling the same stunts as NBE?”
