Amity holds workshop on traditional medicine

NEW DELHI, FEBRUARY 5: Research scholars, medical officers and practitioners of Ayurveda from across northern India congregate in Amity University Noida to participate in a workshop, ‘Traditional Medicine – modern approaches for affordable and accessible health care’ organised by Amity Institute of Training and Development along with Amity Institute of Public Health.
Around 25 research scholars, medical officers and practitioners of Ayurveda from states like Himanchal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh and Delhi are participating in the workshop. The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. A. Arunachalum, Principal Scientist and Assistant Director General, Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and Dr. Mitali Mukherjee, Principal Scientist, Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology, CSIR, New Delhi.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. A. Arunachalum said that every individual must have a sound knowledge about the nutritional values and quality of the organic products they buy. He expressed that the need of the hour is to link food security with nutritional security. “All of us must switch back to the traditional healthcare methods and prescriptions of our ‘dadi’s and nani’s’ which have been lost because of the culture of nuclear families,” he said.
Dr. B.C Das, Dean, Faculty of Health and Allied Sciences , in his speech, shared the vision of the Founder President of Amity, Dr. Ashok K Chauhan and said that his vision had led to the development of Amity in the field of science and innovation. He exclaimed his concerns over the heavy influx and over-usage of the allopathic medicines and the declining state of traditional methods of medication.
