Andhra Pradesh government schools to get CBSE affiliation by 2024, say reports

NEW DELHI: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has directed officials to get Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) affiliation for all government schools in the state by 2024.

The Chief Minister during a review meeting said that every school should have a proper infrastructure, playground. He further asked officials to map schools without playgrounds, acquire required lands and allot playgrounds to those schools, according to various media reports.

In May, the State Cabinet has approved to exchange a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the CBSE for affiliating the government schools of Andhra Pradesh with the CBSE board and said that all these schools will include the CBSE syllabus from the upcoming academic year.

As per the reports, the CM instructed the officials to complete mapping of teachers soon and introduce the policy of subject-wise teachers and also improve the curriculum. He also asked to inform teachers that the mapping is done to identify were the schools lacks and not to point out lapses.

Briefing about the COVID-19 impact on schools in the state, the Chief Minister was told that there is no significant impact on schools as the state government had taken preventive measures and ensured that all teachers who are attending schools were vaccinated, the reports said.

The reports further said, “The attendance of students in August was 73%, while it was 82% in September and 85% in October and 91% at present.”

However, the CM said that the attendance criterion for the Amma Vodi scheme has been exempted and that the main objective of the scheme is to increase enrollment of students in schools. He further asked the state officials to link the attendance to the Amma Vodi scheme 2022.
