NEW DELHI: Andhra Pradesh education minister Adimulapu Suresh has said that the state’s Class 10 examinations will be held two weeks after the lockdown ends.
Interacting with the Union human resource and development minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ on April 28, Suresh laid out the state’s plans to conduct Class 10, also referred to as senior secondary certificate (SSC), examination. He also explained the measures taken by the education department on online teaching in the state.
The education minister clarified that there is no proposal to promote Class 10 students without taking the examinations.
Quoting Suresh, Times of India reported that the students will be given two weeks’ time for their preparation: "Chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy asked us to prepare the schedule for SSC exams. Two weeks’ time will be given after completion of lockdown for the preparation of students. Measures will be taken to maintain social distancing at exam centres”.
Andhra Pradesh has also decided to continue mid-day meals for students during summer holidays and has requested the Union government’s support for continuing the scheme.
“We have requested the centre to release pending funds due to us under various heads in the human resources ministry,” Suresh told Times of India .
Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has notified that it will inform the students 10 days before it starts examinations for Class 10 and Class 12.
