NEW DELHI: Around 50% of recruiters prioritise technical and domain-specific skills over traditional qualifications, as per the Unstop Hiring Kart, Skills and AI Report 2024. The report also showed a significant shift in hiring practices and 92% human resource leaders agree that skills should take precedence over degrees.
The Unstop Hiring Kart Report 2024 also reveals a disconnect between academic preparation and industry expectations, with 18% of graduates feeling under confident to be part of the workforce.
The report further added that around 68% of HR leaders cite the lack of coordination between colleges and organizations as a primary concern, necessitating better alignment between educational institutions and industry requirements.
Another critical factor highlighted by around 65% of HRs is the absence of mentorship and the need for guidance to bridge the skills divide, the report read.

However, 1 out of 5 organisations still neglect investment in skill development despite the recognition of these challenges, the report stated.
It also advocates for companies to align their hiring strategies with future workforce needs by embracing emerging technologies and fostering upskilling initiatives, the report added.
