NEW DELHI: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has started the Joint Entrance Examination Main (JEE Main 2025) January 22 shift 1 exam for undergraduate engineering admissions at top institutions like IITs, NITs, IIITs, and CFTIs. Students with valid JEE Main admit card 2025 have been allowed entry inside the exam centre. On the first day, the NTA will be conducting exams for BE, BTech paper 1.

The JEE Mains January 22 exams 2025 is being held in computer-based test (CBT). The shift 1 exams for BE, BTech paper 1 will conclude at 12 noon and the entry for shift 2 will begin at 1.30 pm As per the JEE Main exam timings 2025, shift 1 will be conducted from 9 am to 12 noon and the second shift from 3 pm to 6 pm.
A list of items, including geometry or pencil box, handbag, purse, textual material, eatables, mobile phone, bluetooth, or any other electronic devices, have been prohibited inside the exam venue. The NTA has recently changed the JEE Main exam centre for Sharjah UAE due to “unavoidable circumstances”.
JEE Main question paper with solutions 2025 will be published by coaching centres after the exam concludes. The JEE Mains unofficial answer key is also uploaded by compiling memory-based questions.
Candidates claiming the relaxation under the PwD category will have to produce the certificate from an authorised medical officer. Moreover, a valid government-issued photo identity card and transparent ball point pen should be carried to the exam hall.

The JEE Main 2025 January 22 exam is being conducted in 13 languages-Assamese, Bengali, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu, Hindi, English, and Gujarati.
As per the marking scheme mentioned on the JEE Main 2025 question paper, candidates will get 4 marks for each correct answer and 1 mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer.
The JEE Main 2025 exam began today, January 22. Once the shift 1 exam is over, the JEE Main 2025 question paper (memory-based questions) with solutions will be posted.

As per the NTA schedule, the JEE Mains exam time 2025 for January 22 shift 1 is 9 am to 12 noon.
As per the revised pattern, the section B of the JEE Main 2025 question paper will not have optional questions. There will be only 5 questions per subject and candidates are required to answer all.
The NTA Abhyas app provides JEE Mains mock test 2025. The JEE Mains mock test are available in multiple languages including English, and Hindi. The NTA Abhyas app can be downloaded from Google play store or Apple app store.

The JEE Mains shift 1 exams 2025 will commence at 9 am. Candidates appearing for BE, BTech paper 1 exams will be given 3 hours to attempt the computer-based test (CBT). The exam will conclude at 12 noon.
The NTA has directed all exam centres to provide candidates with blank paper for rough work. Candidates who are using paper for rough work will have to write their name and roll number at the top of each of the sheets and should drop the sheets in the designated drop box without fail, before leaving the exam hall. “Failures to do so may result in a non-evaluation of your answers”.
Candidates will be allowed to take bio-break. However, if a candidate goes for bio-break, toilet, he or she will have to undergo mandatory frisking and biometrics again. “Apart from the biometric attendance and frisking at entry, candidates will be frisked and biometric attendance will be taken again on entry from bio- break/toilets break,” the NTA said.
The NTA will be holding the national-level engineering entrance exam, JEE Mains paper 1 BE, BTech, in computer-based test (CBT) mode. Paper 2A BArch mathematics part 1 and aptitude test part 2 in CBT mode and drawing test in pen-and-paper mode.
The invigilators will be brief candidates about the exam and complete the attendance registration process. The JEE Main question paper 2025 for shift 1 BE, BTech paper will be distributed soon.
The JEE Main January 22 exam will be held in two shifts. Candidates will have to produce the JEE Main admit card 2025, self-declaration form, a valid photo ID, and a passport-size photograph. Students have been instructed to use transparent ball point pen while filling the attendance sheet and for rough work.

No. The NTA has instructed candidates to appear for the JEE Main January 22 exam at the allotted exam centre. "No candidate will be allowed to appear at the examination Centre, on the date and shift/time other than that allotted to him/ her in his/ her Admit Card," it said.
Apart from private sources, a reliable set of free JEE Mains mock tests can be found on the NTA's own National Test Abhyas app.
Entry gates have been closed. Only those candidates who have a valid JEE Main admit card 2025, self-declaration form, passport size photo have been allowed inside the exam hall. Candidates who have not complied with the dress code and those found in possession of prohibited items have not been allowed entry.

The JEE Mains session 1 exam will be held in one exam centre each in Arunachal Pradesh and Andaman & Nicobar. The NTA will also be conducting the entrance exams in 5 Assam centres.

Typically, once NTA JEE Mains admit card is issued, The exam centre cannot be changed. The NTA has even issues a full JEE Mains exam centre list 2025; what it does announce, however, is the list of exam cities.
Parents and guardians wait outside the NTA exam centre. The JEE Mains entry gates will be closed at 8.30 am.
Each exam centre will display a list in the venue indicating seat number and lab number. Candidates who have completed the verification process and biometric registration are required to proceed to the exam hall.
Entry for the JEE Main 2025 Shift 1 has already begun. JEE Mains admit cards are still available on jeemain.nta.nic.in.
A JEE second-attempt candidate, Suraj from Rewari, Haryana, told Careers360: "This is my second attempt. I have prepared for the exam my practicing JEE Main PYQ (previous year question paper) and taking mock test. I am aiming for 98 (percentile) in exam."

JEE aspirant Tushar Chowdary told Careers360 before entering the exam centre that he is targetting to achieve 120 marks. "This is my first attempt. I have been focusing on all three subjects and have been taking JEE Main free mock test. I am expecting to score at least 120 marks in the exam," Tushar said.

The high-level committee, set up by the ministry of education to review the functioning of NTA, recommended to use Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs), Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs), and similar schools with good infrastructure as exam centres for JEE Mains and other computer-based test (CBT) entrance exams.

The NTA exam centres have started allowing candidates with valid JEE Main admit card and other required documents to enter inside the exam venue. The JEE Main entry timings for shift 1 is 7 am to 8.30 am.
The NTA JEE Main admit card consists of four pages and will look like the image given below. Page 1 contains the JEE Main exam centre details and self declaration (undertaking), page 2 has "Important instruction for candidates", and page 3 has "Important Advisory", page 4 is a declaration from Non-Aadhaar candidates.

Some of the topics in all three subjects - physics, chemistry, and mathematics - have been removed for the JEE Mains exams 2025.
Mathematics: Mathematical Induction and mathematical reasoning units have been deleted.
Physics: In Physics, the communication device unit has been deleted from the JEE Main syllabus.
Chemistry: Surface chemistry, states of matter, general principles and processes of isolation of metals, s-block elements, hydrogen, environmental chemistry, alcohol phenol and ether, and polymers chapters have been removed.
The JEE Main question paper will have English, and medium opted by the candidate during the application process. “English version will prevail in the event of any difference of opinion,” the NTA said.

The JEE Main self-declaration form is the second page of the admit card. It is an undertaking signed by the candidates informing about any COVID-19 symptoms, details of quarantine, travel history of the past 14 days, and a possible touch with the COVID patient. Candidates will have to carry the duly filled and signed JEE Main self-declaration form with them.
