Arunachal govt asks education dept to prepare action plan to enhance teaching quality

ITANAGAR: The Arunachal Pradesh government on Thursday asked the state education department to prepare an action plan to improve quality of teaching and advised it to use technologies to strengthen learning process.

During a meeting on "Mission Shiksha", Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar stressed on quality education in Arunachal Pradesh which is among the low-ranking states as per the NITI Aayog SDG India Index and Dashboard 2020-21 Report. Admitting that there is a need for infrastructure development of the educational institutes in the state, the chief secretary said delivery of quality teaching must be the primary goal of the education department, according to an official statement.
Kumar asked the department to find ways to improve the scenario of the education sector in the state. He said learning process should be upgraded and advised the department to use modern technologies which would develop excitement and curiosity among students to learn. He also suggested various measures, including a performance evaluation system for both teachers and students as per the indicators of the NITI Aayog and the Union Ministry of Education. He directed them to analyse gaps in the sector and plan actions accordingly to improve teaching and learning outcomes.

In-service teachers' training and conducting of tours to the best performing states in education were among the major points suggested by the chief secretary to improve quality of teaching. Education commissioner Niharika Rai, urban development special secretary Sachin Rana and other officials were present in the meeting, the statement added.
