BATU University's issues to be resolved by December, teacher recruitment in 3 months, says minister Patil

Maharashtra’s higher and technical education minister Chandrakant Dada Patil has assured that the government is taking measures to ensure timely declaration of students’ exam results, preventing any further academic loss at Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University (BATU) Lonere

Additionally, the minister also assured that the process of filling vacant professor positions at BATU Lonere will be completed within the next three months.

The development comes after the minister attended BATU Lonere’s 28th convocation ceremony. The ceremony was held in presence of the Governor and chancellor of the university, Jishnu Dev Varma, the vice-chancellor, and other officials.

BATU’s controller of examinations Gitanjali Mahamunkar, along with professors, students, university officials, staff, and other distinguished guests, was also present.

BATU University has been facing mounting complaints over delays in conducting exams, announcing results, and errors in mark sheets, besides other administrative issues.

BATU Lonere: Resolution by December, assures minister

Minister Patil has stated that efforts would be made to resolve all issues concerning the university, including vacant professor posts, exam results, and other student-related matters by December.

He expressed confidence that steps are being taken to ensure timely results and that changes in the university's functioning will be visible after December, thereby eliminating the need for students to transfer to other universities.

BATU’s priority for digitisation of records

The BATU University has taken steps to make admission and exam processes completely online. Minister Patil emphasised that the use of technology should not be limited to administrative convenience but should be utilised to enhance the students' academic experience.

BATU is situated near the historic Raigad Fort and stands as a center for knowledge, liberty, and the ideals of social transformation. The campus shares a connection with the historic backdrop of the 'Chavdar Tale (Chavdar Tank) Satyagraha.'

Special scheme for daughters’ proposal

Additionally, the BATU press release noted that data regarding daughters of single mothers pursuing education in the state's universities and colleges will be collected to determine their numbers. The state government is taking steps to ensure that the daughters of single mothers receive the necessary financial and academic support while pursuing higher education.

Subsequently, a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will be held to decide on the implementation of a special scheme for these students.

Inauguration of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s statue

Minister Chandrakant-dada Patil also announced that work on the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj has been completed on the BATU campus and will soon be inaugurated by CM Fadnavis.
