MBBS students admitted in Chintpurni Medical College, Pathankot, will have to fill choice of colleges by tomorrow and the allotment results will be declared on October 7.
NEW DELHI: Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS) Faridkot will be shifting 259 MBBS students admitted during the academic session 2021-22 in the White Medical College and Hospital, formerly known as Chintpurni Medical College, to other medical colleges in the state. The decision comes after the National Medical Commission (NMC) has refused to grant permission for renewal for the academic year 2024-25 due to lack of infrastructure facilities.
In this regard, BFUHS admission branch informed students admitted at Chintpurni Medical College, Pathankot during the session 2021 and 2022 “That in consonance to the Govt. of Punjab Letter no. 3.M.E.3.PB24-SPL-01 dated 28.09.2024, the schedule for shifting and seat matrix has been published on the University Website www.bfuhs.ac.in on 01.10.2024 to participate in online counselling w.e.f. 03.10.2024 to 05.10.2024.”
As per the tentative seat matrix notified by the institute, the students will be shifted to 7 medical colleges, including three state government medical colleges. A total of 109 medical seats have been notified by the Baba Farid University of Health Sciences.
It is mandatory for candidates to fill choices and preferences of colleges and courses along with the admitted category as reflected in the merit list; “otherwise your preferences will not be saved”. “The candidates who will not participate within the stipulated period will be solely responsible for any consequences arising thereof,” it said.
Chintpurni medical college shifted students of 2014-15 and 2016-17 batches to different medical colleges. Following this, the statutory body debarred the college from granting admission for two academic years 2017-2018 and 2018-19. A year later, permission was granted for 150 MBBS seats during the academic year 2021-22. However, renewal applications submitted by the college for 2023 and 2024 was rejected by NMC.
