Board Exam Postponed: 11 states have postponed exams, promoted students

NEW DELHI: Over the past few months, as the number of COVID-19 cases swelled, states decided to shut down schools, postpone board exams and promote younger students without exams. The Maharasthra Government even postponed the Maharashtra board exams citing increasing in COVID-19 cases.

With schools being shut and states postponing exams hopeful students trend the #cancelboardexams2021 hashtag to gather the posts in social media. As students awaited the latest news about CBSE board exams 2021, Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, students’ group All India Students’ Association and others, over the weekend, supported the campaign by demanding that the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) cancel the CBSE board exam 2021.

Here we have compiled a list of states that have decided to postpone exams or promote students without examination.

Chhattisgarh board exam news

The Chhattisgarh Government has said all students except those in Classes 10 and 12 will be promoted without examination. Chhattisgarh Class 10 board exams, scheduled to be held from April 15 to May 1, were postponed. New dates are yet to be announced.

Himachal Pradesh School news

The Himachal Pradesh Government promoted all students, except those in Classes 10 and 12, without examinations amid rising number of COVID-19 cases.

Assam School News

The Assam Government has decided to promote students of Classes 1 to 9 without exams. The State has already released the exam schedule for Class 10 exams which will begin from May 11.

Bihar School News

The Bihar Government promoted students of Classes 1 to 8 without examination. The government said that it has chosen to not detain students of Classes 5 and 8 for whom annual exams are held.

School News Today Tamil Nadu

The Tamil Nadu Government, in the Classes 9, 10 and 11 students of Tamil Nadu will be promoted without exam, Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami had announced. The Madras High Court had allowed the order to stay despite protests from a section of teachers.

PSEB board exam 2021

The Punjab Government has postponed Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations among rising COVID-19 cases. The Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) announced that the exams will now be conducted from May 4 for Class 10 and May 24 for Class 12.

Maharashtra state board exam news 2020

The Maharashtra Government, on Monday, promoted students of Classes 10 and 12 without exams. The state had earlier announced that students of Classes 1 to 8 will be promoted without exams. Education minister Varsha Gaikwad added that she will request the Centre to reschedule the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE 2021) and other exams as well.

School News Today Uttar Pradesh

The Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP) announced that board examinations for Classes 10 and 12 are postponed. According to new dates, the UPMSP Class 10 exams will be held between May 8 and May 25, 2021, in two shifts.

Rajasthan school news

The Rajasthan Government announced that students of Classes 6 and 7 will be promoted without examination. The state had earlier announced that students of Classes 1 to 5 students will be promoted on the basis of the assessment done under its Social Media Interface for Learning Engagement (SMILE) programme.

Odisha school news

The Odisha Government announced that students of Classes 1 to 8 will be promoted without examination. The Odisha School and Mass Education Department said that the decision was taken considering the COVID-19 pandemic.

Tripura school news

The Tripura Government has promoted all students, except those in Classes 10 and 12, without examinations. Tripura education minister Ratan Lal Nath said that the state will impart education through local television channels.
